I saw this recipe on Natural New Age Mum and she uses her thermomix, but I changed the recipe a bit and didn’t use the thermie because I was making these with my two-year-old son and it’s way more fun to get messy with him! (not really, the mess shits me, but it’s all about the joy of creating together right..?)
Anyway, I thought I’d share it because HELL – who doesn’t love chocolate crackles?!

|
- 3/4 cup coconut oil (in liquid form so melt it if required)
- 1/4 cup honey I use raw honey
- 2 tablespoons heapedraw cacao
- 2 1/2 cups puffed brown rice see below for info
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut

- Mix the coconut oil, honey and cacao together in a small bowl.
- Add the coconut and puffed rice to a big bowl and pour in the liquid mixture. Stir baby!
- Then place them in patty pans (it makes 12) and put them in the freezer until hard. Then they’ll need to stay in the fridge. You have to eat them quickly because the coconut oil turns liquid at room temperature so you’ll look like this with chocolate all over your face:
- The brand of brown rice puffs I bought I found at Coles (just as Natural New Age Mum told me I would). Abundant Earth – they look like this:
I told my son they were chips and he devoured them plain, as a snack. Winner. Now what else can I use them for….
