Hey, welcome to the Small Steps Podcast. I’m really glad you’re here. I thought that amongst all the videos that I do, and all the blogging that I do, there was something missing for the podcasters. And I might say that I’ve been getting a little into podcasting lately, because while I’m getting dinner ready, or in-between, you know, moments of working and collecting kids, I can stick something in my ear, and listen to it, and be taken away or learn something. And I love that. I don’t like to over-consume information, personally. I need a break from it all, because we’re so bombarded, all the time. But, I do love the option to podcast, and I’m like, ‘Man, I need a frickin’ podcast.’
I love talking to interesting people. I love bringing people little snippets of information that help them improve their life. And that’s what Small Steps is all about. So, if you’re new to me, and we don’t know each other, let me tell you that I’m Lisa Corduff. I created an online business about two years ago when my youngest daughter, the third in, well, I think my son-, eldest, was about three still, or he’d just turned four. Crazy! I thought, ‘Oh man, I love this whole foods thing. I love what I’ve done with my family.’ Which was basically, I was deciding that I didn’t want processed and packaged foods to be a part of our life. But it was mega-hard.
I mean, I was a teenager who worked at McDonalds, and then I worked at Wendy’s, and then, you know, I boozed and kebabed my way through my twenties. I didn’t have a great relationship with food, but I didn’t have a terrible one, you know. I saw my mum cook dinner, we sat down to roasts, and maybe the Chinese was, kind of, KanTong, if anyone remembers? But I wanted my family to have a really strong food culture. I felt like I’d totally lost my way with food, that I didn’t even know what healthy was. I was doing all this research, and trying to find out what I should feed these beautiful, tiny children of mine.
And it sparked this big conversation that I started having, with a Facebook page, and on a blog. And from there, I wanted to teach other people what I’d learnt. I wanted to bring them all the experts that I’d followed, and I’d spoken to, and interviewed. And it became a course called Small Steps to Wholefoods, which takes people on an eight-week journey through the basics of wholefoods eating, and then some. It’s a lot of everything. But what, at its core, I try to do with that course is just to help people realise that you don’t need to change everything overnight. I know so many of us love the sound of losing 20kg in eight weeks, or, you know, going from blah to fab. And I’m always like, ‘What? Does it really happen like that for people?’ Because, I don’t know, I tend to do those things, and then I just fall back into my old habits. Or, I can’t keep up, and I feel like a failure.
So I wanted to create something totally different to that, and I did it with Small Steps to Wholefoods. And now, that has just launched into so many other things. And I have a thriving online business, I talk to amazing women about food and health. But I want to have more conversations. I also am totally convinced that we can be as healthy as we want with our food, we can even do the exercise, but if we’re speaking down to ourselves, if we’re highly stressed, even if we’re just, kind of, always a little bit stressed, it’s going to have a massive impact on how we feel. So mindset and mindfulness, I’m just so passionate about those topics. I’m passionate about talking to women who I am looking at with admiration, and finding out how they do it, and grabbing small steps from them. People who move their bodies in ways that keep them healthy, I am just in awe of, I want to talk to them.
This Small Steps Podcast is going to be all about talking to amazing women, and men. Heck, I’ll talk to the dudes! Any dudes want to talk to me, let me know. About ways that we can improve our life, by taking small steps. I don’t want the big ‘from zero to hero’. I want to know small, actionable things that I can be doing, we all can be doing, to get ourselves on track. To help us live our absolute best lives, without guilt, or overwhelm, or stress. So, it’s kind of just a little snapshot of what you’re going to be getting here, and I am thrilled that you’re on the ride. I’ve got some fabulous stuff coming up for you, and I would love to stay connected, and bring everything that I do online into a podcast. I’m super-excited.
Thanks for listening, and I’ll see you in the next episode. Bye for now.
