Where were you at before starting Small Steps to Wholefoods?
My family and I had a very nutritionally poor diet. I was certainly a lazy cook! Being a mum to 4 fussy and demanding boys was the excuse that I would use to get me out of making healthy meals at home.
What made you take the plunge?
My 4 little angels of course.. but the two people that really sparked any kind of interest to begin this journey of wholefoods was my brother Bradley ( whom we sadly lost to kidney failure 3 years ago now..) and my Dad who underwent major heart surgery mid-last year. They certainly opened my eyes to what could happen if my family and I kept living the way we did.
I was a smoker also.. (ahh yes not a very good habit to have) but that was me then.. I was a pretty heavy smoker after my brother passed away but with the positive guidance and the determination that I had within me actually helped me overcome this habit and I quit smoking just 3 weeks into the program. It was such a relief to finally break the habit, I don’t know how or where I would be in terms of my health if I kept going but I’m not going back that way AGAIN!!
What were the most important things you learnt through the program?
Well I learnt so much in the program. Mindfulness is a big one for me. This was never apart of who I was before the program so I am grateful this positive change has transformed me into a better human being with a greater and deeper understanding of not just food but life in general.
What did you love most about it?
I love everything about Lisa! I love everything about the program! I love everything in the program! Lisa is so genuine and very down to earth. Her gorgeous face and charismatic energy is a bonus!! I also love and have so much respect for the community of wonderful women in the face book groups they too have certainly inspired my journey.
How would you say your life has changed?
Life has changed dramatically for the better! I am mindful. I am present. I am confident. I thank small steps to wholefoods for catering all the in depth knowledge provided by Lisa and all the amazing guest speakers in the program.
I am consciously aware of my ‘bad food’ choices now and when we do eat foods that aren’t so healthy (which is not so often) we don’t beat ourselves up for it. That’s the power and beauty of a healthy transformation, everything just falls into place without spending too much time manifesting negative energy of what your bad food choices could do and just embrace it and learn from that experience.
I discovered a great passion for cooking and being creative with food, never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that cooking would be so enjoyable. Before the program it was always a chore so many delicious and healthy transformations happened to me when I did the program.
