What We’re talking about

We stayed in this same hotel five years ago, when we first arrived in Brisbane.
This little poppet was 4 months old when we arrived in a city where I knew only one person.
She's been an extraordinary human to watch grow. I'm so excited for her life. She's magnetic and she has no idea.
She's worried about our move away from her friends and kindy. And she can tell me how she's feeling.
I know she'll rock this next stage, but she doesn't know it yet. We validate her feelings every step of the way. She's never told to feel different or she's being silly.
Sometimes there's nothing else for it but being wrapped in your mums old cardi to fall off to sleep.
She was so tiny when we were last here, and this moment last night reminded me she still is only little. Adore her.

Aleisha NorcottThe hardest job in the world but the most rewarding. After 12 moves in 11 years my Children have attended several different schools. Each time they were worried about fitting in and making friends. A wise soul once told me to tell my children 'Your old friends will always be your friends and your brand new friends are there just waiting to meet you'. This has always helped them. 😊

Anna HughesBeautiful photo Lisa! All kids need reassurance that everything is going to be ok and their feelings are valid! You are doing a great job! So beautiful to have captured the moment. Every time u look at that picture it will take u back to that very moment in time!

Marija CastellariBeautiful. Kids are so resilient...when we moved to Italy 3 years ago, the kids didn't even speak Italian - they settled in amazingly well (though it wasn't easy, they were so brave). Now, I can use that experience as a reference to other challenges they worry about. If it would help, you could remind your daughter of a time she was worried about something new and how she overcame it. X

Louise GlendonI love this - such a sweet moment to record. My kids are pretty upset about moving this time.. but they're reliant little beings, and all these experiences help shape them into who they'll become!

Lisa Corduff added 2 new photos.

All packed up.

Last photo on the balcony that we have LIVED on!

I'm grateful for the help of mum and dad who helped make this move a breeze.

And you know what, I didn't get caught up in the whole 'this is going to be super stressful' vibe.

Nope, I said this was going to happen with ease. And it has. We have so much more control over how things happen than we realise.

I'm also grateful we keep things pretty decluttered at home and have done some big clear outs. Love a good cull!

It meant that packing wasn't dramatic.

A few nights in a hotel in Brisbane and then....we are away.

But here's the thing. I'm not a robot. (Weird I hadn't realised this...!) Sometimes I think I'm capable of more than I can do. For example I didn't factor in 'tears time'. Time for me to process all this.

I've spent a lot of time making sure my family are feeling supported I guess I forgot to factor myself in.

Which has meant lots of tears the last 48 hours. But it's so GOOD to cry and process emotions. Brisbane has been home for five years, some of my closest friends are here.

I'm so excited to be heading off on a new adventure, but ouch, the leaving part hurts.

xx
