What We’re talking about

I’m at that really awkward hair stage....
Not long, not short. Kicking up because it’s hitting my shoulders.
I’m about to get my hair done (Operation: Self-care) and not too sure whether to keep growing it or cut it shorter again.

What say you?

Thanks to everyone for your beautiful well wishes. The last few days have been slooooow and my body is loving me for it.
So, more of that please!

Lisa CorduffPossibly one of the worst haircuts I’ve ever received. There’s literally chunks missing and I said I wanted a straight edge and she’s given me Jennifer Aniston in the 90’s...... it’s not good. I want my Brissy hairdresser Lisa from Purple Daze Hair Studio back!!!! Booooo

Jo ReidI’m growing mine too and it’s just a bit shorter than yours and was doing the same thing. I had it cut, but just a teeny bit off the ends and thinned out a bit. Sits heaps better now. Persevere!

Never ever ever do I turn on morning TV.
This morning I did #resting but instead of feeling chilled my blood BOILED!!!!
The male host tried to argue that the female pay gap DIDN’T EXIST!
And we are discussing school results on gender lines. Frustratingly this wasn’t a discussion on how awesome women are (though the panelists did make that point) - it was intended as a discussion on how to help boys.
Why?!
Should they be in ‘the lead’ or something?!
And this is why I cannot watch TV....

Jenny SchulzI think the point they were making is that young boys struggle in maturity compared to girls. As the Mum of 2 young decent men, I worry about the man hating world they seem to be entering into.

Keya StevensonI'm a high school teacher & there is generally quite a marked difference between the ways boys and girls learn- and their maturity levels can also be worlds apart. An engaging, interested, personable teacher goes a long way in rectifying those issues, but in my experience- boys do need a little more loving to get them through, generally speaking. Not all, certainly- which is the problem with generalisations like the one on this show. I don't think this was meant to say boys need to be helped MORE than girls to put them 'in the lead', but rather that they may need more help to get to the same point. There is still quite a strong stigma in the country that boys shouldn't be academic, which we are all working hard to destroy, but it is something that does require our attention as educators & parents.

Cathy GuppyDivision down gender lines is generally annoying and not needed. In this instance, it’s probably just one comparison out of many that has been done and is getting discussed. Private and public schools will be compared, generational data, as well as different residential areas and socioeconomic factors will be analysed. I also think the same would be said if it were girls who were underperforming. Plans would be put in place to help them reach their potential.

I think the boys are being left behind and not enough being done for them. My children are vary from 15, 10, )boys) Nearly 5 and 3 (girls). I didnt watch whatwas on Tv

Gemma Hill BlewittI always feel reluctant to comment on these threads as it can be so divisive and those morning shows seem complete trash ( I was so angry at that one segment I read about that suggested that breastfeeding women cover up😡) Educational data is crunched in many ways ( gender/age/area/state etc etc) and tv shows just tend to pick one aspect to talk about it. I didn’t see the segment so have no idea how it played out but the gender pay gap VERY real AND so is the fact that many of our young boys struggle in school ( and probably many of our girls too). As a woman, teacher and a mother of 3 young boys there are many issues that are important to me!

Lisa Corduff added 5 new photos.

My day with shingles ..... (note - not contagious anymore!)

Woke up, showered and even washed my hair.

Went to get a blood test (HATE THEM) at 8am.

Got home and Nick was on the school run.

Took the opportunity in a quiet house to do a FB Live inside the Membership. (Filling up time by DOING.....)

Then went to the post office with my daughters to buy a bajillion envelopes for the stationery orders.

Stopped at a cafe for a coffee and the three year old got her photographer on (“mummy make a sad face”)

Came home and printed out packing slips and address stickers.

Took daughters to a play date at a new friends house. Stayed way too long (was over excited with the awesome company and didn’t shut my mouth.....)

Came home - posted on FB about having an afternoon sleep.

In fact lay in bed checking social media and work stuff (same/same!) and stressing about whether I was going to get all these stationery packs back to the post office by 5pm.

Start working on the packs. It takes ages. And I’m still double checking orders at 4:30pm.

All hell breaks loose at home as the eldest and youngest have a screaming match over a paper aeroplane. #goodtimes

Cannot get everyone into the car so need to go on my own and take three boxes and one bag full of envelopes to the post office by myself.

Ask the universe to have mercy on me (by this time I’m shaking) and give me a park out the front.

And there was. You ask, you receive - thank you parking angels 👼

Make Post Office peeps cranky with my bajillion orders that they have to scan through super quick so the van that is waiting outside can take them.

Fill out the international order envelopes, leave the PO, come home, lie on a spare mattress downstairs because our room is a sauna and have my beautiful daughters draw me pictures.

Write this post on Facebook to share that I am not as better as I thought I was and in full acknowledgment of the fact that my body needs slow slow slow.

Which I find hard but am using this opportunity to embrace what it means on a completely new level. I really have no choice.

My mum has been here the past few days being the complete goddess that she is Nick is totally on board.

It’s me that finds this hard.

My call out to you (and me) —- IF YOU NEED TO REST, I know it’s hard, BUT REST!

I really am going to now. 💕💗

PS I think I need an Amazon Store to send for me......!

Rachel WillisTake care of you! Yes continue to be mindful of slowing down, rest as much as you can. I have been focusing on it for a few years and I can be going along so well then stuff happened and you allow yourself to put your need on the back burner with the plan it's for a short time to get through what you currently have to deal with, but other stuff continues (called life) then suddenly it's been 6, 9, going on 12 months and you still have yourself on the back burner, that's been my year and I am so thankful for small steps to help bring me back however I also know it's not a quick fix, it will take lots and lots of continuous small steps.
